Cover feature for November 2011 issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords

Modified Mustangs & Fords November 2011When Vaughn Gittin Jr. unveiled his RTR-X Mustang at SEMA last year I was hoping to be able to photograph it. Some may not like the car’s look, but technically it’s one of the most impressive classic Mustangs I’ve ever seen and it’s got some really cool details. Plus, Vaughn actually intends to drive the heck out of the thing.

Fortunately I got the chance to photograph the RTR-X earlier this year, and Modified Mustangs & Fords used the photos for the cover of their November 2011 issue.

You can see the rest of the photos and the whole article after the jump.

Cover feature for November 2011 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords

Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords November 2011Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords just released their November 2011 issue, and one of my photos of editor Evan Smith driving a Shelby GT500 at this year’s Spectre 341 Challenge is on the cover. Honestly, it’s not the best photo, but it looks good on the front of the magazine.

Modified Mustangs & Fords November 2011

This was one of my favorite cars I’ve photographed this year. The car is REALLY cool – a 1969 Mustang fastback built by Agent 47 with a modern suspension and engine and finished in a matte black paint. Matte paint always photographs very well, and the stormy sky during the evening of the photoshoot provided a perfect setting for the car nicknamed “Harbinger”. The car was featured in the October 2011 issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords, although sadly it wasn’t used for the cover. You can see the entire article below.

Just got word from the great folks at Kahn Media that one of my photos was featured on the cover of Robb Report’s Collection in the August 2011 issue. This one came as a surprise, since I took the photo in September of last year. The photoshoot was originally done for Classic Recreations, the builder of the car.

2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 by Raceskinz

It’s always interesting to see which photos are selected for publication in a magazine. For the most part, I’ve always felt 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords has done an excellent job in choosing the photographs for an article as well organizing them on the page in an attractive manner. When I see an article with my photographs for the first time, almost always I like which photos they chose and how the article is laid out.

For the recent feature on the Raceskinz Mustang, however, I was disappointed by the absence of one particular photo, seen above. It was by far my photograph I took of the car, and one that was a mix of good timing and a bit of luck. I was sad that it didn’t make it in to the magazine, but at least you can see it here! Follow the jump for another bonus photo.

First off, let me just say that drag strips are not my favorite places to photograph cars, at least in California. They just aren’t photogenic. But where else are you going to photograph a 2,500 horsepower Mustang built to pull off six second 1/4 mile runs? The one redeeming factor are the burnout and wheelie shots, the latter of which I was hoping would be used a lead or even a cover shot. Alas, they went with the standard front 3/4 photo, and I can’t really complain. Besides, another one of my photos made it on the cover of the September issue anyway.

The photos aren’t exactly portfolio-worthy, but they got the job done and look good in the magazine. Follow the jump to see screen shots of the whole article.

Cover feature for 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords, September 2011

5.0 Mustang & Super Fords September 2011The September 2011 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords came out today, and I was fortunate enough to have my photo selected for the cover. The car is a 2011 Mustang 5.0 built by a company called Raceskinz. I first saw the car at SEMA last year, and it was by far my favorite Mustang at the show. Originally I had done a photoshoot of the car without any driving shots, but I knew the car was cover-worthy, so I set up another time to photograph the car in action. Thankfully, the extra effort was rewarded. Follow the jump to see screen shots of the complete article.

The middle of the desert is just about my favorite place to photograph a car, so I didn’t mind driving out to Las Vegas to take pictures of this highly modified Mustang for a feature in 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords. I came away with some pretty cool driving shots of the car, so I was a little disappointed when it didn’t make it onto the cover. Even so, the photos looks great in the magazine.
